The Fruit That Does It All: Life With Lemons

Health Benefits

You already know lemons taste great — but what’s happening inside your body when you make them part of your daily routine is even more impressive.

  • Adding a lemon to your daily diet can provide many benefits, including being a great source of vitamin C. A whole lemon contains about 35 milligrams, which is over half the amount of vitamin C needed in your daily diet.
  • Yoga practitioners often start their day with a glass of lemon water to increase the peristaltic action of the colon and improve bowel function.

The antioxidants in lemons help prevent cell damage caused by oxidative stress, enhancing skin health.

Cleaning Benefits

Lemons offer many health benefits, but are also useful for around-the-house maintenance.

  • Lemon juice with a little bit of added salt can be used as a natural cleansing scrub for things like old rusted pots and scummy shower doors but is also a great stain remover for clothing.
  • Simply add a bowl of lemon juice to your dishwasher, microwave, or garbage disposal for easier cleanup and to help remove unwanted odors.

Rather than using harsh chemicals, consider looking into natural, effective, and healthier ways to clean your home.
