Why Frequent Massages are Better than Getting Just One

If you have had a massage, you know that it has amazing benefits – besides feeling pampered or happy with the instant results. The stress and pain relief are wonderful as well.

However, you may not be aware of the fact that frequent massages actually COMPOUND the benefits.   Multiple medical research studies have shown that those great feelings can be DOUBLED if massage is a regular part of your life.

It does make sense if you think about it.  People who do physical exercise on a regular basis feel better – also on a regular basis.  The same applies to all those great feelings that come from massage – feeling pampered, rejuvenated, relaxed and happy.

Stress Issues

America is a wonderful country, and we all pride ourselves on our level of productivity.  However, the cost of dealing with the results of all our internal and external stresses is high. Medical research suggests that 90% or more of the diseases Americans suffer from is caused by stress. It’s been estimated at over $190 billion per year and there is evidence that over 100,000 deaths per year are stress-related.

In addition to disease, there are a host of other issues caused by stress.  These issues include the pains and aches that come from how we live and work on a daily basis.

Posture and Circulation Issues

In additions to feeling pressured to produce, a great many problems we Americans experience come from what we do every single day.

At work we sit for hours in front of computer screens.  When we leave work, we sit for hours and “relax” playing games, web surfing and “chatting” with friends on electronic devices like cellphones, tablets OR we sit and watch television programs.

Sitting for hours without moving creates two key problems – posture and structural contortions that cause pain, neck and shoulder pains AND lack of blood circulation.   Both of those problems can lead to serious and possibly permanent health issues.

Sleep Issues

Poor sleep quality is an epidemic in America.  Many people have problems falling asleep or staying asleep and even if they do sleep, they seem to get no real benefit from it.  Stress may be the initial cause of sleep problems, but if poor sleeping becomes chronic, it can literally take on a life of its own.  Bad sleep becomes chronic leading to fatigue and anxiety – and the cycle repeats nightly.

Premature Ageing

Probably nothing causes us to age faster than stress

We’ve all seen the “before and after” pictures of the shocking rapid aging of U.S. Presidents.   The cause is undoubtedly high levels of stresses.  There can’t be too many more stressful jobs.

The amount of money spent on anti-aging products has been estimated at around $200 billion annually.  Poor sleep quality piles another stressor on top of all the other pressures we have and substantially increases the rate of premature aging.

What Helps? Massage on a Regular Basis

While eliminating all the anxieties and worries that come from living today is unrealistic, there is no doubt that massage can help manage those pressures.

That’s why frequent massage is more than just a “treat.”  Massage has the added benefit of helping to avoid some of the worst of the negative effects of modern living – low back and shoulder aches from hunching over a computer, the tensions and anxieties of traffic, work problems and all the other “normal” tensions and strains.

While there may be nothing we can do to avoid all those everyday stresses, frequent massage therapy helps to provide many mental as well as physical health benefits:

  • Lower levels of anxiety
  • Enhanced quality of sleep
  • Decreased feelings of fatigue
  • Better energy levels
  • Improved circulation

Plus, those who have regular massage tend to have:

  • A better perspective on life
  • Greater ability to concentrate
  • More emotional balance

The bottom line is that frequent massage can help you have a much higher quality of life and avoid many of the negative effects of life.

Think of it as a prescription for better health.
